Despite bipartisan opposition, Republicans pushed through Donald Trump’s budget bill that will cut Medicaid for 100,000 Nevadans and decimate food assistance programs that more than 500,000 Nevadans rely on - all to pay for the largest tax cuts for the wealthy while increasing the deficit by $3.3 trillion.
This week, in an effort to fight back against this disastrous bill, Congresswoman Susie Lee held a press conference with health care providers to sound the alarm on how Medicaid cuts will harm provider services and rip away health care from more than 100,000 Nevadans. Congressman Steven Horsford blasted Republicans in committee hearings for putting Donald Trump’s agenda over working people. Congresswoman Dina Titus called out Republicans for sneaking a provision into their massive bill that harms gamblers and Nevada’s gaming economy by limiting loss deductions.
Senator Jacky Rosen introduced an amendment to clean energy tax credits that boost our economy, which was ultimately blocked by Republicans in favor of giving tax breaks to billionaires. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto has been sharing the personal stories of Nevadans whose health and pocketbooks will be harmed by Trump’s budget bill.
Attorney General Aaron Ford appeared on both local and national television to tell his personal story about using Medicaid and SNAP benefits as a single father in college, stand against Congressional Republicans’ tax and spending bill, and fight for working families to have access to those essential programs.
