ALBANY - NYGOP Chair Ed Cox released the following statement congratulating House Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik on her appointment as President Trump’s Ambassador to the United Nations:
“Today, we celebrate Congresswoman Elise Stefanik’s appointment by President Trump as the United States Ambassador to the United Nations. Elise has been an unwavering voice for New Yorkers and Americans, consistently putting our nation’s security and values at the forefront. Her steadfast leadership in Congress has prepared her to champion American interests and to be a resolute advocate for democracy, human rights, and peace on the global stage.
“As Ambassador, Elise will bring her deep understanding of complex international issues, her commitment to a strong national defense, and her clear-eyed vision of American sovereignty and strength. She is uniquely equipped to represent our country with the clarity and conviction that these challenging times demand. New Yorkers and all Americans can be proud of her as she steps into this critical role.
“On behalf of the New York Republican Party, I congratulate Elise Stefanik and her team on this well-deserved honor and commend President Trump for making such a wise and thoughtful selection.
“Following the vacancy, Governor Hochul, by law, must set a date for the special election to replace outgoing Congresswoman Stefanik within 90 days. Republicans will hold this safe Republican seat as part of a Republican majority in the House that will help deliver on President Trump’s historic mandate.”
