Experience the heartbeat of the land at Roots, a culinary conversation and grazing event that honors the cooking traditions and food systems of indigenous communities around the world. Join the conversation with chefs leading the charge in decolonizing the plate as they discuss the importance of native agriculture, access to indigenous food ways, the impact on health and wellness, and how the past affects food sovereignty for the future. Moderated by Ambassador of Culture for The Council of Native Hawaiian Advancement, Hinaleimoana Wong-Kalu, guests will have the opportunity to hear first-hand from chefs Pyet DeSpain, Robert Kineen, Joe McLeod and Claudette Zepeda in this special moderated discussion.

Following the panel, you’ll delight in creations curated by seven by esteemed chefs as they unveil the vibrant flavors and time-honored heritage of their ancestral homelands, showcasing indigenous ingredients that echo the rich tapestry of their cultures. Engage with visionary culinary leaders who are spearheading the revitalization of indigenous food systems, each a guardian of ancestral wisdom and a champion of sustainability. Join us at Culinary EmpowHERment, an uplifting brunch dedicated to celebrating and empowering women in the culinary and hospitality industry. We’re bringing together some of foremost women in food and beverage to spotlight their diverse talents and contributions to the culinary landscape—as chefs, mixologists, sommeliers, winemakers, food media professionals and more. The morning begins with a thought-provoking panel discussion moderated by award-winning chef and founding partner & president of Morph Hospitality Group, Maneet Chauhan, alongside prominent women who are not only breaking the kitchen door, but leading the industry as advocates, entrepreneurs, bar owners, restaurateurs and policy makers. Our panelists, chefs Reem Assil, Elizabeth Falkner, Jackie Lau and Anita Lo—joined by celebrated mixologist and bar owner, Julie Reiner—share their stories, insights and challenges faced from behind the line as they discuss breaking barriers, forging paths in male-dominated industries and offer glimpses into the future for women in culinary and beverage.

Following the panel, you’ll enjoy a walk-around brunch of unique creations from notable female chefs, including our panelists. Learn to identify the hypnotic scents of cardamom, cumin, pepper, vanilla and more as world-renowned winemakers and sommeliers uncork some of the best vintages to indulge your senses.
