Artist of the Month!
Martha's Vineyard Regional High School Student Art Reception
Artist Reception: Friday, February 10th 4:00-6:00
Students in the Advanced Placement course at MVRHS have begun explorations and inquiries that are guiding their art making. Each student has chosen their inquiry through processes of creating, investigating, discussions, experimentation and writing. Many students are exploring the synthesis of how their materials choices and process support their ideas. This complex thinking leads to deep meaning in each students' work and a contemporary approach to how art communicates a message. Each artist will continue building their portfolios culminating in submitting a variety of works to gain AP credit, and more importantly a body of work that they are proud of.

Join us for their art reception in our meeting room on Friday, February 10th from 4:00-6:00. Email [email protected] or call 508-693-9433 with questions.

Learn how constitutional clashes over slavery set the stage for the Civil War, and how the nation transformed the Constitution after the war during the Reconstruction period, taking a particularly close look at the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments.

Along the way, our guide will highlight the stories of people like Frederick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln, Harriet Tubman, and other figures central to the conflict over slavery. We will also get an up-close look at special artifacts on display, including original copies of the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments, Dred Scott's signed petition for freedom, a fragment of the flag that Abraham Lincoln raised at Independence Hall, a commemorative copy of the Emancipation Proclamation, and more!
