David Burr Coffey
January 15, 1964 – September 30, 2024
David Burr Coffey, age 60, beloved husband of Karen Culp Coffey (née Muizulis) of Monroe, CT passed away peacefully at home on September 30, 2024, after a courageous four-month battle with stage 4 metastatic lung cancer and leptomeningeal disease. Born in Bridgeport, CT on January 15, 1964, David was the son of Marcia Burr Coffey of Monroe, CT and the late Edward Nichols Coffey.
Raised in Monroe, David graduated from Masuk High School in 1982 and worked as an Electro-Mechanical Supervisor at Imperial Electronic Assembly in Brookfield, CT for the past 23 years. He was a jack of all trades, always quick and capable of fixing anything that needed repair. David was always helping family, friends and even complete strangers with repairs to their homes, cars or anything with a motor. In 2011, he and his wife Karen purchased a historic home close to the Monroe town green and David poured his heart and soul into renovating it for them.
David will be remembered for his humble personality, generous nature, and willingness to help others. Whether plowing a driveway after a snowstorm, cutting up fallen trees, or offering a helping hand with a generator after a power outage, David’s thoughtful deeds touched countless lives. His dependability and kindness were unmatched. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
In addition to his wife of 12 years and his mother, David is survived by his daughter Jennifer Blewitt (née Coffey) of Monroe, CT, his stepsons Thomas Culp of Cambridge, MA and Johnathan Culp of Milford, CT, his brother Jonathan Coffey of Monroe, CT, and his sister Laura Coffey Trautz and her husband Todd of Shelton, CT. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Isabella and Dominic, as well as nephews Hunter, Drew and Spencer, and many close friends.
A memorial service celebrating David's life will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Monroe Congregational Church, 34 Church Street, Monroe, CT. Pastor Jennifer Gingras will officiate. Interment will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, Ansonia, CT.
