Donna Marie Klanko, age 60 of Ansonia, beloved daughter of the late Donald and Theresa Esposito Klanko, died peacefully on September 20, 2025 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Derby on January 26, 1965, she was a lifelong resident of Ansonia, a lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church a 1978 graduate of Sts. Peter and Paul School and 1982 graduate of Ansonia High School. At a young age, Donna was recruited into working at the family convenience store, “Klanko’s” of Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Soon following, she was a career banker, spanning over 40 successful years at the Union Trust Co., First Fidelity, First Union, Wachovia and lastly, Wells Fargo Bank, until the time of her illness. Her zest for life and travel took her to many sunny locations including 10 Caribbean cruises, tours of the western U.S., the Grand Canyon, Sedona, AZ, Yellowstone and Zion National Parks and many trips to her “happy place” Aruba. Together with her mom & girlfriends, she made many memorable trips to the casinos. She is survived by her devoted brother, Richard Klanko and his wife, Rita Velasquez of CA; her beloved companion, Ramon Hernandez of Ansonia; an aunt, Margaret Mary Donovan of Derby; an uncle, Peter Klanko and his wife Maria of Waterbury; a cousin, Kristin Rollinson of Shelton; dear friend, Mary-Ellen Bostic of Beacon Falls; and her cherished cavapoo, Ginger. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Kevin Michael Klanko and an uncles, Joseph and Michael Klanko. Family and friends may call on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM (Panakhida at 6:30 PM) at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Funeral services will take place from the Funeral Home on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 9:00 AM. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Avenue, Ansonia at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby.
