Grzegorz Jozef Pawelec, age 76, beloved husband of Regina Chodkiewicz Pawelec of Seymour, died peacefully on December 7, 2024 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family. Born in Lomza, Poland on March 12, 1948, he was the son of the late Roman and Wanda Wyszynska Pawelec. Mr. Pawelec worked as a teacher in Poland for 15 years before following his passion of woodworking and owning his own custom carpentry shop. In 1990 he immigrated to the United States, first settling in Derby and then moving to Seymour 21 years ago. Mr. Pawelec worked as a skilled carpenter for the New England Stair Company of Shelton for 17 years, until the time of his retirement. He was a member of St. Joseph Church of Ansonia and will be long remembered for his special love for his family. In addition to his wife of 53 years, he is survived by his devoted children, Jacek Pawelec and his wife Malgorzata of Seymour and Aneta Piorek and her husband, Rafal of Orange; a sister Barbara Nocon of Poland; a brother, Jan Pawelec and his wife Jadwiga of Poland; cherished grandchildren, David Pawelec of Seymour and Maya, Maxwell and Mason Piorek of Orange; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call on Monday, December 9, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Church, 32 Jewett Street, Ansonia. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Derby. The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to Dr. Nicholas Blondin and his entire staff for their compassionate care extended to Grzegorz in his time of need.
