Maria D. Razo DeVillegas, age 90, beloved wife of Leon Villegas of Ansonia, died peacefully in the comfort of her daughter’s home, surrounded by her family. Born on August 2, 1935, in Mexico City, Mexico, she was the daughter of the late Jose Merced Razo and Natalia Gonzalez Razo. Mrs. Razo DeVillegas immigrated to the U.S. in 1972 and resided in Bridgeport, until moving to Ansonia in 2019. She was the family matriarch, and a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking her family’s recipes, passed down through the generations, as well as singing, sewing and crocheting beautiful family heirlooms. Mrs. Razo DeVillegas entered the convent as a young lady, prior to meeting her husband and true love of 66 years. Her devout spirituality and catholic faith were an inspiration to all who knew her. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Razo DeVillegas is survived by her devoted children, Gabriella Reaney and her husband, Jeffrey of Stratford, Maria M. Villegas of Ansonia, Beatrice Agosto of Shelton and Alfonso Villegas of Ansonia; cherished grandchildren, Christina Villegas of Shelton, Alfonso Villegas, Jr. of Waterbury, Michael Ramos of Shelton and Brianna Marcucio of Shelton; great-grandchildren, Aiden Hanlon, Sofia Hanlon, Alfonso Villegas, Luna Villegas, and Alana Ramos. She was predeceased by a brother, Rodolfo Razo. Funeral Services will be private. The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia is in care of arrangements.
