From: Orleans Chamber Of CommercePresident's Corner
Dear Members,
Thank you for your continued support of the Orleans Chamber of Commerce! Great things are happening here at the Chamber, starting with the exceptional work of our new Executive Director. If you get a chance, stop into our 44 Main Street office. You probably won’t recognize it when you go inside! Judy has been hard at work improving the overall look of our downtown Visitor’s Center. Walls have been painted, there's new furniture and an exciting buzz is in the air. Judy has also been working diligently on our website. When hired, Judy had made it clear that advancing our website was a priority and if you visit it today, you’ll see many positive changes, with more still coming. We understand that our website is an important tool for merchants, so we want to make it a focus of our overall improvements.
The Chamber took part in the “Merchants Safety Series,” led by the Orleans Police Department. The information, suggestions, and advice from the O.P.D. was invaluable. We discussed everything from shoplifting to scams. I highly suggest attending the next Safety Series, which will most likely take place in the fall or winter. Most importantly, if you suspect a crime, reach out to Orleans Police Department and they’ll be able to help. Keep an eye on our calendar and newsletter updates. I want to sincerely thank the O.P.D., including Chief MacDonald and the other law enforcement members who took time out of their busy day to meet with business community members. I look forward to having more of these meetings in the near future.
Last week, the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce joined the Orleans Chamber of Commerce at Pleasant Bay Community Boating for a fantastic co-business after hours. The weather was perfect, the food was excellent and you would be hard-pressed to find a better location. Thank you to those who attended! A special thanks to Noelle Pina and the Cape Cod Chamber for co-hosting this fun event. Thank you to Pleasant Bay Community Boating, including Dorothy Bassett and Jennifer Curran, along with the PBCB volunteers who made it such a special night!
Last, but definitely not least, I want to mention Boards in the Store. The auction is now live and has been extremely successful so far. With a little over a month to go, we are very excited to see the engagement and I hope all of the businesses are having fun with the surfboards in their stores. As we move through July, I hope it draws people from all over to participate in our scavenger hunt and the online auction.
That’s it from me, but I always want to remind you, if you need anything, always please feel free to reach out to us. We are here for you!
Best Wishes!
Justin Alex
Orleans Chamber of Commerce Chair
