It’s no surprise that Shady Sheehy lied repeatedly during Monday’s debate – it’s all he knows how to do. 
 

1. Sheehy lied about Senator Jon Tester’s abortion record. While Sheehy pushed discredited claims, Senator Tester told the truth – Sheehy opposes the ballot initiative to protect reproductive freedoms, and has called abortion “murder” and “terrible.”

1. On public lands, Sheehy falsely claimed “no one, including myself, in that organization, has ever advocated for selling our public lands.” Sheehy called to remove protections for our public lands and he served as a board member of an organization with a “history of advocating for privatizing federal lands.”

1. And, Sheehy did everything he could to run away from his “pure privatization” health care plan – which would remove government funding from health care and dismantle Medicare, Medicaid, and the VA.

Sheehy garnered attention for his lies all week. 

SHEEHY RECENTLY LIED ABOUT LIVING “BELOW THE POVERTY LINE”

New reporting from The Guardian revealed that Sheehy falsely claimed he lived “below the poverty line.”

Sheehy claimed that he lived “below the poverty line” when he founded his company in 2014. In actuality, Sheehy and his wife had $400,000 in the bank. The poverty line for a Montana family of three in 2014 was $19,790 – Sheehy had “20 times” that amount.

SHEEHY “GOES TO EXTREME LENGTHS TO DODGE THE MEDIA” AND RUNS FROM CNN CAMERA

Sheehy won’t grant interviews and “goes to extreme lengths to dodge the media.” This week, Sheehy blocked a CNN TV camera from getting footage of him leaving events – “going as far as dispatching a pickup truck to block the camera in order to let Sheehy leave without being seen in another vehicle” – while refusing to tell Montanans or the media, “Who are you exactly?”

SHEEHY’S DISASTROUS DEBATE DAY COULDN’T HAVE GONE WORSE

Sheehy wasn’t just a trainwreck on the debate stage – his whole day was a disaster.

Protesters greeted him at the debate and called him out for his disparaging comments about Native Americans, his event with Charlie Kirk was disruptedby multiple attendees who called out questions to him (including Gallatin County-based financial expert Marc Cohodes), and a mobile billboard parked right outside of the debate blasted details about his pure privatization health care plan.
