Live music, ballet, theater, culinary art, painting, sewing and making stained glass suncatchers are just a taste of what families can experience at the 34th Annual Artrageous Kids Art Festival, which will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Sat., May 13, at Dowdy Park in Nags Head.

This year’s Artrageous theme is Space To Create, offering children a fun, outdoor space to let their open-minded creativity flow at 20 free kids art stations.

Multi-instrumental reggae act Cultivated Mind, the Dare2Care Shredders, Donna Roark’s Shadow Players with Drama Mama, Atlantic Dance and Nature Out Loud, as well as students from Ascencion Music Academy and the Mustang Music Outreach Program, will be performing throughout the day.

“Nature Out Loud is a highly interactive science and music program that encourages movement, singing and playing along with fun percussion instruments,” said lead singer Paul Mazzei. “I am looking forward to bringing original songs about science set to fun, funky rock, reggae and pop music to Artrageous.”

Costumed actors from The Lost Colony, America’s longest-running outdoor symphonic drama, also presented by PNC Bank, will be roving the grounds at Artrageous, offering information about their 86-year-old annual production.

Buxton, N.C. artist Kennedy Fletcher will also be at Artrageous hosting an outer space and ocean-inspired interactive paint-by-numbers booth for families.
Over 25 local artisans will be selling their work at Artrageous, including the Young Artist Village, which provides a venue for students to sell jewelry, paintings, fiber art and more.   
“We are a group of high schoolers bound together by crafts,” said young artists Alexa Wehner and Haley Heard from Krafty Kranes. “We each have our own products, and we work together to create a shopping experience perfect for everyone. Come check us out at Artrageous!”
Fork ‘et Me Not, Island Snowball and Blurred Lines Bakery will be selling snacks and sweet treats onsite all day. The Lopez Lemonade Stand will also be at Artrageous selling homemade lemonade to benefit the Mustang Music Outreach Program.  
Additional parking for Artrageous will be available at Nags Head Elementary School.
 
Presented by PNC Bank, the Artrageous Kids Art Festival is Dare County’s longest-running kids art program.
