WINTERVILLE - Pitt Community College will offer a course early next year to help prospective health sciences students prepare for the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS), a multiple-choice exam many colleges require for admission to allied health programs.
Pitt’s “TEAS Test Boot Camp,” according to PCC Health Sciences Admissions Specialist Kristi Walters, will feature five sessions - each focused on a specific TEAS topic. She said PCC instructors would be on hand to help students sharpen their test-taking skills and strategies, reading, math, science (combination of anatomy, physiology, biology and chemistry), and English/language usage.
“PCC health sciences curricula are rigorous, and we expect the best from our students as they prepare to work in health care,” Walters said. “The TEAS helps ensure that we select the most qualified applicants for the seats we have available in our highly-competitive Nursing, Radiography, Respiratory Therapy, Cardiovascular Sonography, Medical Sonography and Occupational Therapy Assistant programs.”
PCC’s boot camp will take place Wednesdays (Jan. 10, 17, 24, 31 and Feb. 7), from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., in the college’s Herman Simon Building (Room 201). The cost is $40, which includes the “Official ATI TEAS Study Manual.”
Students can register for the course by visiting https://ss-lb.pittcc.edu/Student/InstantEnrollment/Search and typing "TEAS" in the 'search for sections' window. The deadline to register is Dec. 14 at 5 p.m.
Prospective students may contact Walters at [email protected] for additional course information or registration assistance.
