From: Wilmington Memorial LibraryIt's Game Day, Wilmington!
Reading Rivals starts TODAY, so it's time to start logging minutes so we can out-read Tewksbury Public Library!
The winning library will receive bragging rights and custody of The Reading Cup for one year, until we all compete again in 2024! Keep track of our standing on the Wilmington Memorial Library’s website, social media accounts (linked at the bottom), and through our newsletters!
When Is This Year's Competition?
This year's competition runs from
October 1st through November 22nd!
What Counts As Reading?
Books, magazines, newspapers, articles, graphic novels, manga, audiobooks--it all counts as reading! Reading to someone & being read to also counts as reading, so you can log that too!
We've also set a community goal of 2,000,000 minutes, which sounds like a lot! (That's 33,333 hours!) But we're not worried, we read 1.3 million minutes during Reading Rivals last year. Two million is a piece of cake.
Are There Any Prizes?
Why yes there are! We'll have weekly prizes for all ages, as well as a separate adult prize, a separate youth prize, and a grand prize for all ages!
- Weekly Prizes: $20 gift cards to local Wilmington restaurants
- Adult & Youth Prizes: Log at least 5 hours of reading for a chance at a $50 prize (one for Adults, one for Youth)
- All-Ages Grand Prize: Log at least 10 hours of reading for a chance at a $100 gift card to a business of your choice
How Do I Log My Minutes?
You can log your minutes each week digitally on Beanstack or by picking up a paper log (or printing one out) and returning it to the library as often as possible so we can log your minutes for you!
