On Saturday, May 31, 2025, the Oklahoma State Committee met in Oklahoma City at Higher Plain Baptist Church and conducted quarterly business. Among that business under new business, a resolution to Prohibit the Expansion of Oklahoma K-12 School Based Services and School-Based Health Centers passed almost unanimously on a voice vote. There were 201 credentialed delegates present from all over the state. This resolution was previously passed in several counties including Canadian, Cleveland, Custer, Garvin, Grady, Mayes, McClain, Osage, Stephens, and Washington.
The resolution’s author, Deborah Campbell said, “I am so pleased the State Committee passed this important resolution! I hope our legislators will pay attention and do everything they can to protect our children from things parents do not approve of regarding their health.”
The resolution will be shared with many of our elected officials and the action items include 1) asking the Superintendent of Education to conduct a comprehensive review of all IEP’s and removing any containing non-educationally necessary medical services, 2) OKGOP strongly opposes any expansion of school-based services beyond their legally intended scope, 3) OKGOP recommends declining all federal funding intended for the expansion of school-based health services, 4) recommends review and termination of contracts for the expansion of school based health services, and 5) recommends OSDE amend policies and procedures as needed to comply.
