Maurice Pritchett Sr. Academy Ribbon Cutting & Block Party

 

Wilmington, Delaware - The Christina School District, in partnership with the State of Delaware, Delaware Department of Education, and Wilmington Learning Collaborative, is thrilled to announce the grand opening of the Maurice Pritchett Sr. Academy, and we wholeheartedly invite the community to join us in this momentous celebration on Friday, August 23! 

Named in honor of the late Maurice Pritchett, Sr., a highly respected educator with an impressive 30+ year career dedicated to nurturing young minds, this academy represents a significant milestone as the first newly constructed school in the City of Wilmington in decades. Together, let’s honor Maurice Pritchett's commitment to education and embrace the bright future that lies ahead for our students!

What: Ribbon Cutting and Block Party for the Maurice Pritchett Sr. Academy.

Who: Governor John Carney, Department of Education Secretary Mark Holodick, Wilmington Learning Collaborative Representative, City of Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki, other esteemed dignitaries, Christina School District and Pritchett Academy Administration, Members of the Pritchett Family, alumni, students, and the Pritchett Academy community.

When: RAIN or SHINE, Friday, August 23, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. The ribbon-cutting ceremony kicks off at 2:00 p.m., followed by an exciting block party!

Where: The Maurice Pritchett Sr. Academy and Herman Holloway Sr. Park, located at the intersection of E. 7th and N. Lombard Streets in Wilmington, DE. The event will be held outdoors with guided tours of the school.

Photo Op: Media are invited to capture images of the ribbon cutting with Pritchett Academy students and staff, elected officials, and Christina School District representatives, as well as photos showcasing the beautiful new school building and its innovative learning environments.
