TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS COME — GREETINGS: 

A PROCLAMATION CALLING FOR A CONVENTION TO FILL THE VACANCY IN NOMINATION FOR THE REPUBLICAN PARTY NOMINEE FOR THE BENTON COUNTY OFFICE OF JUSTICE OF THE PEACE, DISTRICT 4. 

WHEREAS: On March 15, 2024, the Benton County Election Commission certified the results of the March 5, 2024, primary election for, among other things, the Republican Party nominee for the Benton County office of the Justice of the Peace, District 4; 

WHEREAS: The Benton County Election Commission certified that the Republican Nominee was unopposed at the primary election; 

WHEREAS: The Republican Nominee for the Benton County office of the Justice of the Peace, District 4, has formally withdrawn from the race, creating a vacancy in nomination for that office; and 

WHEREAS: The Republican Party of Arkansas timely notified me of the vacancy in nomination for the Republican Party nominee for the Benton County office of the Justice of the Peace, District 4, and indicated that the Party chooses to fill the vacancy in nomination by convention. 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS, acting under the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Arkansas, do hereby proclaim as follows: 

1. A special convention of delegates of the Benton County Republican Committee shall be held no later than Friday, June21, 2024, for the purpose of filling the vacancy in nomination for the Republican Party nominee for the Benton County office of the Justice of the Peace, District 4. 

2. The period for filing for candidacy as a party candidate with the Benton County Clerk for the special convention shall commence at 12:00PM on Monday, May 20, 2024. The deadline for filing as a party candidate shall be 12:00PM on Friday, May 24, 2024. 

3. Upon approval of a convention by the Benton County Republican Party Committee for the nominee of the Republican Party of Arkansas shall provide a certificate of nomination to the Arkansas Secretary of State, and to the Benton County Election Commission, no later than June 28, 2024. 

4. All of the deadlines and requirements shall be as provided for by the applicable election laws of this State.
