TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS COME — GREETINGS:

A PROCLAMATION CALLING FOR A CONVENTION TO FILL THE VACANCY IN NOMINATION FOR THE REPUBLICAN PARTY NOMINEE FOR THE OFFICE OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, DISTRICT 66.

WHEREAS: On March 15, 2024, the Pulaski County Election Commission certified the results of the March 5, 2024, primary election for, among other things, the Republican Party nominee for the Office of the Arkansas House of Representatives, District 66; 

WHEREAS: The Pulaski County Election Commission certified that the Republican Nominee was unopposed at the primary election; 

WHEREAS: The Republican Nominee for House of Representatives, District 66, has formally withdrawn from the race, creating a vacancy in nomination for that office; and 

WHEREAS: The Republican Party of Arkansas timely notified me of the vacancy in nomination for the Republican Party nominee for the office of House of Representatives, District 66, and indicated that the Party chooses to fill the vacancy in nomination by convention.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS, acting under the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Arkansas, do hereby proclaim as follows:

1. A special convention of delegates of the appropriate county shall be held no later than Friday, April 19, 2024, for the purpose of filling the vacancy in nomination for the Republican Party nominee for the office of the Arkansas House of Representatives, District 66. 

2. The period for filing for candidacy as a party candidate with the Secretary of State for the special convention shall commence at 12:00 noon on Monday, April 8, 2024. The deadline for filing as a party candidate shall be 12:00 noon on Wednesday, April 28, 2024.

3. Upon approval of a convention by the appropriate County Party Committee for the nominee of the Republican Party of Arkansas shall provide a certificate of nomination to the Arkansas Secretary of State, and to the Pulaski County Election Commission, no later than April 28, 2024.

4. All of the deadlines and requirements shall be as provided for by the applicable election laws of this State.
