In the Gardens
A signature of Wave Hill’s talented horticulturists is their ability to extend the garden’s appeal beyond what one would expect from a garden in early fall. By using a sophisticated plant palette and honed techniques, our gardens peak in September with flamboyant compositions and robust, textural play. Of particular note this month, are the luxuriant and colorful Pergola and Kate French Terrace displays.
Visit Labor Day weekend, and enjoy the rare Monday when the gardens are open, including a guided garden highlights walk (SEP 4). Another special treat this month is access early and late on Sunday, SEP 10: Come before the gardens open for the first session of Fall Birding, or stay late for a session of Evening Meditation & Sound Bath at the Aquatic Garden—registration is required for both events.
More Water...and Still More!
The Aquatic Garden will also be the subject of the next Walk with a Gardener, this time with Wave Hill Gardener Christopher Bivens (SEP 8). Bivens currently oversees both the Aquatic and Monocot Gardens. This exclusive guided tour takes you behind the scenes as Bivens explores the design of these two formal garden areas. Pair this with a visit to Glyndor Gallery to enjoy the group exhibition opening this fall: Light from Water: Heidi Howard and Esteban Cabeza with Liz Phillips features new collaborative works, many of them created at Wave Hill and inspired by the views and vegetation at the Aquatic Garden this summer.
