Activities and Features!

VENDOR SHOPPING SPREE!

At the Sparta NJ Renaissance Festival it pays to shop! We are proud to introduce an opportunity for our shoppers to win even more from their favorite faire vendors! To get started, pick up punch cards at our entrance! For every $10 threshold you pass while purchasing from participating vendors you will get a hole punched on your card. When your card has ten holes punched on it, you may deposit it into the locked box at the Queen's Pavilion.

ARCHERY

Along the road of the faire, nestled in the beautiful woods, lies the mystical gaming glen. For a modest arrow fee, test your skill with a bow! Our range has a multitude of fun and interesting targets for all levels of skill.

GLIMMERMERE GLADE

Join the fairies of Glimmermere Glade!  They always have a quest for the young adventureres and lots of activities to participate in!  You might even catch the Fairy Queen and make a wish!

THE ROGUES GUILD

With the festival being announced for another year, the Rogues Guild of Sussex, has found an ideal opportunity to target the nobility and also bolster its ranks by recruiting new members. Do you have what it takes to join its ranks?

If you wish to take part in this interactive experience find your way to the rogues guild where the rogues guild representative will work with you to complete challenges!

AXE THROWING

Death & Axes! Death itself bids you to throw his axes and see where your fate lies!

Clan of the Raven

Clan of The Raven, a non-profit educational historical group focused on the Viking Age. With a fully immersive encampment showing the way the Scandinavian people lived, sailed, and fought. With hands-on displays and demos, games, and fight a viking, you will learn some history in a fun and exciting way!

BLACKSMITH DEMONSTRATIONS

Daniel Lapidow is the Hebrew Hammer! He has been blacksmithing for his whole life and and you can visit his shop in Trenton NJ. The Sparta NJ Renaissance Festival is proud to have him performing blacksmith demonstrations throughout the day!

Band of the Hawke

The Band of the Hawk is a group of living history interpreters operating under The Kingdom of Lucerne, Inc.

Focusing on everyday life in 16th and 17th century Europe. We offer fencing, black powder, and blacksmithing demonstrations as well as a generous display of period weaponry, giving you an interactive and educational glimpse into the life of an Elizabethan militia.

Kita Mermaid

As you look over the lake, you might spot a shimmer in the water. If you look closely you might just catch a glimpse of the mermaid! The mermaid named Kita loves to splash and play with any and all new friends she meets. She loves to show up at birthday parties and to read books to humans. But her most favorite thing to do of all is to talk with the humans and learn more about them. So, if you see a shimmer in the water, close your eyes and listen hard. You just might hear her song.

THE ADVENTURER'S GUILD

Attention, adventurers! Join the Adventurers' Guild for another exciting year of questing! Complete quests around the faire grounds to become an official adventurer of the Kingdom of Sussex and a chance to score a prize from the King’s Armory. We have quests for both young and older adventurers! Our location will be at the queen’s pavilion right next to the local smithy! Do you have what it takes to become an adventurer?

MAGICAL FISHING

Surprisingly fun and addictive magical fishing! Using the mystery of "Lodestones" (Magnets), fish in our lake for all sorts of treasures and oddities! This activity can be found on the dock next to the Queens Barge!

Captain Portias Parrots

After traveling the seven seas I.... Captain Portia .....have been given the opportunity to "drop anchor" in this beautiful Kingdom of Sparta! Here I will be showing off my most incredible and beloved parrots that I have collected from all over the world... Join me and my crew and most especially my parrots for a day of merriment in our glorious kingdom.....I promise it will be a day to remember!

THE ENCHANTED FOREST

The unexplored mysteries of Sussex continue to grow ever larger, as this year we introduce a new quest to partake in! Join Sir Gawain as he embarks into the enchanted forest to find the Green Knight!

The Knights of Sussex

Join us this year as our kingdom's knights show off their talents through jousting and sword-fighting!  The story evolves throughout the day with each show!

Shakespeare Approves!

Join your friendly, neighborhood Shakespeare – Renaissance Festival Awards winner Favorite Comedy Act (2021, 2023), Favorite Solo Stage Act (2022), & Favorite Child-Friendly Act (2018, 2019) – as he takes you on audience-interactive adventures full of merriment: sword fights, mistaken identities, star-cross’d lovers, flying implements of doom, musical numbers, being pursued by a bear, and …death by fluffy kittens! The Shakespearean adventures are zany performances shaped to be fun for everyone!

Celtic Magic with Daniel Greenwolf and Bella

Magic, Comedy, and Possible Hot Flaming Doomity Death returns to Sparta! See these two storytelling Magicians perform amazing prestidigitation and defy fiery death while keeping you on the edge of your seat with maniacal laughter! A show good for the whole family, as long as your family is a little twisted. Rated PG.

PIECES OF 8

Travellers. Storytellers. Every single one afflicted with A.D.O.S. (Attention Deficit... OH SQUIRREL!).  They are the most dysfunctional family on the shire: PIECES OF 8!! The Belle family presents their Comedy Renaissance Pub Sing, and a cartful of fun!

Temperence Belowe

Heathens Beware! Temperance Belowe, the Renaissance Era's least favorite Puritan, is here to keep you in line. She'll be on the lookout for merry-makers and preaching to the masses, whether they like it or not. Don't let her catch you having fun!

Crow the Songbird

Lively songs, deadly puns, and silly bardic shenanigans!

Crow the Songbird is a bard- an adventurer who travels far and wide to share his shenanigans everywhere he goes. Come for music to cheer for, puns to groan at, and a performance that’s an adventure from start to finish!

Erika the Harpist

Be mesmerized by the enchanting sounds of Erika's harp, as she plays her celtic music for your listening pleasure!

?Bardy Pardy are the singing trio of Hannah Ward, Chelsea Carlson, & Stephanie M. Krause (as ‘Talulah Tattersby,’ ‘Ella Grimsley,’ & ‘Molly O’Flaherty’), and they are delighted to bring their brand of musical shenanigans to the Sparta New Jersey Renaissance Festival!

Michael OJ

Second and Third Weekends!

Come friends and fans to enjoy the chaotic and fun magic of Michael OJ ! Come for a performance of fun, laughs, and magic. Michael will bewilder and dazzle you and make you “Believe in the Magic of the World” once more. Come see Cards! Coins! Bottles! Extreme Danger! And Daring Escapes! Appropriate for all ages! Come see one of his three shows! Classic Magic, "Swindlers and Tricksters" a gambling show, and a Historical Magic Show using techniques from the middle ages!

JEANNIE & LIZ ALLEN

(Second and third weekends!)

Jeannie Allen is a trained coloratura soprano and will perform word re-known opera arias including Queen of the Night from Magic Flute, Bell Song from Lakme and others. 

Liz Allen is an accredited Singer/Songwriter who will be performing beautiful celtic songs and songs of fantasy.

Sean Whipsy 1

Sean the Whipsy Rover travels the realms teaching the art of whip cracking to one and all! Stop by for a free lesson (yup, FREE), get some video of you looking super cool, and you can even buy a whip to take home and keep practicing!

The Foxy Bard

Gather round to hear as Foxy and Twig regale you with songs of drinking, roving, fighting, and things to keep secret from your mother. You will laugh, cry, blush and wonder where you left the whiskey.

Professional Monstrosity

Third Weekend Only!

This sideshow storyteller and monster for hire is cute but cryptid!  Watch as she performs a variety of sideshow feats on our stages!
