Dear Friend of Spotlighters,

We need your help to safeguard the future of the arts in Maryland. Governor Moore’s proposed 2025 budget eliminates the Arts Stabilization Act (ASA) - a critical funding formula that has sustained arts organizations for over 30 years.

What is the ASA?

- The ASA provides critical stability to Maryland’s arts sector, supporting nearly $13 billion in annual economic impact, over 80,000 jobs, and $7.3 billion in arts-worker compensation.

- This historic legislation guarantees equitable funding across every county and Baltimore City, ensuring the arts remain accessible to all Marylanders.

- Repealing the ASA would jeopardize decades of progress, threatening bipartisan support that has fostered a thriving arts ecosystem.

For Spotlighters, this could mean a devastating loss of funding, jeopardizing our ability to bring live theater to over 4,000 patrons each season and support over 300 artists, technicians, and designers who bring stories to life.

Your voice can make a difference.

Here’s how you can take action today: (CLICK HERE)

CALL your legislators – Tell them why the arts matter and urge them to reject the elimination of ASA. Find your legislator’s contact info here.

WRITE your legislators – Use the Maryland Citizens for the Arts form to send a message in minutes.

SHARE this call to action on social media—let others know how the arts impact your life!

DONATE to Spotlighters – With funding uncertainty ahead, your support will help us:

- Continue producing high-quality, intimate theater experiences.

- Sustain local artists and creators who call Baltimore home.

- Preserve educational programs that inspire our community.

- Keep theater accessible and affordable for all.

The arts generate nearly $13 billion for Maryland’s economy and support over 80,000 jobs. Losing the ASA would reverse decades of progress and threaten the vibrant arts scene that makes our city and state thrive.

Now is the time to act. Your voice, your advocacy, and your support are crucial.
