From: Saint Timothy's Episcopal ChurchSt. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Massillon will host a Coronation Watch on Saturday, May 6, 2023. Doors open at 6:00 a.m. View the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and enjoy a full English breakfast and champagne toast along with fellow Anglophiles and people who enjoy the tradition and ceremony of English royalty.
Call the church office at 330.833.3183 to be placed on the guest list. Everyone is welcome.
“Come see why the Episcopal Church is the church of kings,” says Aaron Litton, event organizer. The Anglican Communion (sometimes called the Church of England), including the Episcopal Church in this country, is bound together by similar liturgies based on the English Book of Common Prayer.
The Coronation will will be streamed from Westminster Abbey in London, where kings and queens have been coronated since 1066 AD and kings, queens, statesmen, soldiers, poets, priests, heroes, and villains have been buried since 960 AD. Of most recent note, Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral took place in the Abbey in September of 2022.
Guests will be encouraged to visit the St. Timothy’s sanctuary to see the stunning stained glass windows, three of which were created by Tiffany and Co. in New York City. The building was completed in 1899, when the two largest windows were installed. The north and south windows are more than a century old.
St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church is located at 226 Third Street SE. The parking lot entrance is on Oak Avenue SE. For more information, call 330-833-3183 or visit sttimsmassillon.com.
