From: New York Governor Kathy Hochul“As the extreme heat continues, the electric grid in the New York City metro area is again approaching peak capacity. I am urging all New Yorkers to conserve electricity until 10 p.m. tonight to help ensure the safe and reliable operation of the city’s power system. That means setting window air conditioning units to 76 degrees and avoiding unnecessary appliance use.
“Remember: these record-setting temperatures should break by tomorrow morning. This heat wave is almost over, and if we come together as New Yorkers we'll get through it safely."
