ALBANY - NYGOP Chair Ed Cox released the following statement in response to all but four of New York’s Democratic House delegation voting against H.R. 9495, which would have stripped non-profit status from organizations that provide material support to terrorists:
“The majority of New York’s Democratic House delegation must answer for their votes against legislation to crack down on non-profits that provide material support to groups – including Hamas – designated by the U.S. government as supporting terrorism.
“Voting to revoke tax exempt status for groups supporting terrorism should be a no-brainer, but apparently not for most New York Democrats, all of whom voted against the bill except for Reps. Torres, Ryan, Suozzi and Meng.
“This is the latest in a troubling pattern of Democrats ignoring the threats posed by groups like Hamas, not just to Israel but also to the United States, as well as the rising tide of anti-Semitism in New York and around the world. Every Democrat who voted against this bill should be asked to explain why they believe organizations that support terrorism deserve non-profit status.”
