September 15, 2023

The Art Walk is returning to Stonington Borough and we're promising an incredible lineup of artists, music and food. The event, free to the public, and is expected to attract artists and visitors from across New England.

Water Street between High Street and Church Street will be closed for the day to accommodate the event. Painters, illustrators, watercolorists, sculptors, potters, makers, and photographers will line the street with tents, and select merchants will host artists at their storefronts stretching all the way down to Cannon Square!

The Park Place Artists, a group of 8-10 art students, will be exhibited at the house of Sally Vail at 165 Water Street.

Cove Ledge Beer, Wine and Spirits will host a group of artists and tastings in its garden at 147 Water Street.

The Captain Palmer House and the Lighthouse Museum will offer self-guided "Art Walks" at both museums called Through the Ages. A handout highlighting important paintings, objects, and artists will be available. Admission will be half-priced ($5).

Enjoy a rare opportunity to tour the former residence of James Ingram Merrill, an American writer of poetry, essays, fiction, and plays at 107 Water Street. The building and Merrill's apartment were designated a National Historic Landmark in 2016, offering a glimpse into the poet's life and times with panoramic harbor views from the Stardeck.

Stonington Free Library will be open 10 am - 3 pm the day of the Art Walk. See the current exhibit in their Stairwell Gallery featuring artists from Vista Life Innovations — connecting individuals of all abilities through the arts. Help yourself to a free Take & Make activity while supplies last, and browse the library's collection of art books.

The Glaze Vase Project returns to the 5th Annual Art Walk thanks to local potter and Art Walk participant, Lyndsay Meiklem Dean of Glaze Handmade. Lyndsay will be hiding 30 tiny vases throughout the Borough for seekers to find.

Marya Ursin of Mystic Paper Beasts, a theater troupe known for their extraordinary collection of expressive mythological masks and ingenious props will be roving throughout the event.
