"Specters Galore from Forest to Shore" on July 21

The Stratford Library will celebrate ParaConn weekend with Stratford Town Historian Dave Wright and his talk, "Specters Galore from Forest to Shore". The program, which is presented in conjunction with the Baldwin Center’s ParaConn weekend of paranormal events, is free and open to the public.

"There always seems to be a lot of talk around town concerning hauntings and witches." observes Dave Wright. "The same old familiar names and places always seem to be bandied about: the Phelps Mansion, Boothe Park and Goody Bassett. Stratford's "spookiness", however, transcends all of these. Stratford is so much more than one ghost, one witch or one perilous journey into darkness." Wright invites residents to join the discussion about some of the venues in Stratford that may well raise the hair on the back of your neck, put a nervous smile on your lips and leave you watching over your shoulder attempting to determine if what you just saw out of the corner of your eye was a shadow, or something much more ominous!

Dave Wright majored in Accounting and Data Processing in college. He was Department Head of Computer Systems at Philips Junior College and held directorship level positions in Information Technology at Zions Utah Bancorp, Campbell Soup, Nestle Foods and BIC Corporation over a 28 year period of time. Wright is currently the Manager of Information Technology for the Town of Stratford (20 years) and Stratford Town Historian. His volunteer work has included the Beardsley Zoo, State of Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection, Connecticut Audubon, Stratford Historical Society, the Stratford Recreation Department and many others. He has lived in Connecticut for over 35 years and has led nature and historical walks for the town for 20 years.
