The North Carolina Republican Party (NCGOP) appreciates the N.C. State Board of Elections' (NCSBE) willingness to consider that their initial guidance on the Disaster Recovery Act did not align with the intent of the General Assembly.

The Disaster Recovery Act, which passed by a unanimous vote of both chambers of the General Assembly and signed into law, is a first step to rebuilding Western North Carolina following the devastation of Hurricane Helene.

“The State Board has reversed course on this matter, this is good news for the voters of Western North Carolina. Given the track record of the State Board of Elections we will continue to closely monitor their actions and activities throughout the administration of elections,” said NCGOP Chairman Jason Simmons.
