The Texas Music Office (TMO) and Visit Corpus Christi held a Music Friendly Texas workshop on Thursday, February 16 in Corpus Christi as part of the inaugural Coastal Bend Music Industry Symposium. TMO Director Brendon Anthony and TMO Community Relations & Outreach Specialist Chip Adams were on hand to discuss the state of the music industry in Texas and to explain the Music Friendly Texas Program.

Texas based/born (or raised) acts dominated among the nominated and winning acts at the 65th GRAMMY Awards last night in Los Angeles, CA. View the complete list of Texas winners among the 91 different categories, including Texas artists Snarky Puppy, Edgar Winter, Kirk Franklin, Robert Glasper, Willie Nelson, and many more.
Granbury Becomes the 40th Music Friendly Texas Certified Community
The City of Granbury, having completed the multi-step certification process, has been designated as the 40th Music Friendly Texas Certified Community by the Texas Music Office (TMO). The Music Friendly Texas program, the first in the nation since introduced by TMO in 2016, seeks to foster music business-related economic development and job creation in Texas cities and communities.
Music Friendly Texas Notes From the Road: February 2023
We are back to sharing a recap of TMO Community Relations and Outreach Specialist Chip Adams’ travels throughout the state. Chip manages our Music Friendly Texas Program, the only one of its kind in the country since 2016, and includes 40 certified cities throughout Texas, and growing every day. This month, Chip made trips to the Woodlands, Corpus Christi, and Granbury, and had the opportunity to meet up with several existing and potential Music Friendly Texas Communities in the region.
TMO Hosts the Lone Star Showcase at Folk Alliance 2023
On February 3, TMO's Program Specialist, Steve Ray, headed to Kansas City for our Folk Alliance International Official Showcase. We featured an all Texas lineup of amazing folk artists, including: JM Stevens, Phoebe Hunt, Kamica King, Taylor Rae, Jaimee Harris, and Rebecca Loebe.
Later that evening, we co-hosted a private showcase with ComboPlate Booking, featuring even more Texas folk artists, including: Roxi Copland, JM Stevens, Vanessa Lively, Javier Jara Music, Giulia Millanta Music, Amethyst Jonquille, Colin Gilmore & Tammy Gilmore, Ali Holder, Longriver, and Crow and Gazelle.
