From: Town Of ColebrookThe Colebrook Historical Society will kick off its 2023 Season with a social gathering on Sunday, April 30th, from 3:00 – 5:00PM. The gathering will be held in the Colebrook Town Hall Meeting Room, located on Route 183 in Colebrook Center.
There will be a short business meeting, then the Connecticut Historical Society will make a special presentation - Rosie the Riveter.
The theme of the 2023 Colebrook Historical Society season is “Women’s Work”. The annual exhibit, opening on Sunday, June 4th, will display work done by Colebrook’s women of a distinctly non-traditional kind. But women started doing non-traditional work long before the 21st century. Perhaps no women have ever worked harder than the women of WWII.
Rosie the Riveter became an iconic image of working women during the Second World War. What was it really like for them? The Connecticut Historical Society has answers to that question. They will present propaganda posters, art, music and photos. They’ll also share real-life accounts of Connecticut women who worked tirelessly for victory during that war.
Refreshments will be served. All are most welcome.
