MADISON, Wis. — In the final weeks of the election, WisDems will be highlighting Eric Hovde’s extreme agenda for Wisconsin, and how his policies would be disastrous for Wisconsinites. The second edition will look at Hovde’s plan to roll back our health care.
Today, Hovde quadrupled down on his disastrous plan to repeal the Affordable Care Act “in its entirety.” If he had his way, Wisconsinites would be forced back to a time when insurance companies could charge people more and deny coverage for people with pre-existing conditions.
If Hovde had his way, millions of Americans would see their health care costs increase while insurance companies would make record profits.
Hovde’s Plan for Rolling Back Wisconsinites’ Health Care:
- Hovde wants to “significantly overhaul” the ACA to let insurance companies rip off Wisconsinites.
- Hovde said there were “no ifs, ands, or buts” about the fact that he wants to repeal the ACA “in its entirety.”
- Hovde was caught criticizing the ACA provision allowing young people to stay on their families’ health plans until age 26, calling the law a “stupid idea” that makes Wisconsinites lazy.
- When asked specifically if he’d keep the provision protecting pre-existing conditions, he emphatically said “No!”
- Hovde has said being overweight is a personal choice, and that people struggling with their weight should face “consequences” and be forced to pay more for their health insurance.
- PolitiFact Wisconsin fact checked the claim that Eric Hovde wants to repeal the ACA and kick millions off their health insurance, and they found that the claim is TRUE.
