From: The Invisible Dog Art CenterDear Friends,
Happy 2023 to all of you.
The winter season has started in NYC with a multitude of festivals of opera, danse, music, theater and performances.
Our dear colleagues from Under The Radar (until January 22), Exponential (until February 8), and Prototype (just ended) have offered us an exciting program and also the opportunity to reconnected with our dear friends.
Keep your excitement, The Invisible Dog is opening its winter season with the reading of Einat Weizman and Issa Amro's new play, How to Make A Revolution, on January 25. An exceptional and unique evening with even more exceptional and unique artists.
In February, we have the gigantic honor to welcome french director Eva Doumbia and her Autophagies, a play made of stories of bananas, rice, tomatoes, peanuts, palm trees, fruit, sugar and chocolate culminating with a Maafe prepared by Chef Alexandre Bella Ola shared with audience members.
For March, we will present a new exhibition, multiple events with our partner Books Are Magic and much more. But we have some times before talking about March right?
Oh, I cannot forget our dear food lovers: la Salle A Manger (SAM) reopens as well, with new winter recipes, and marvelous chefs in residency.
We can't wait to see you again very soon at 51 Bergen Street and share all these delicious shows and meals cooked by talented artists.
And dont forget to admire the Wall of Donors created by artist Alana Salguero.

How To Make A Revolution
Einat Weizman - Issa Amro
Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at 7pm
The play portrays a multifaceted reality, as the playwright is on stage sharing the challenges she has had to face ever since she started working with Issa. She relays how she too came under heavy pressure even from civil society activists and organizations that support the struggle but seek to dictate its terms.
Autophagies
Eva Doumbia
February 23-26, 2023 (various hours)
co-presented in partnership with NYU Skirball
Autophagies (Stories of bananas, rice, tomatoes, peanuts, palm trees. And fruit, sugar, chocolate) is a show halfway between theatre and group tasting session. Eva Doumbia plays the role of a master of ceremonies who invites the audience to a "documentary eucharist" orchestrated by the chef Alexandre Bella Ola. Over an hour and a half, the preparation of mafé is accompanied by stories about each ingredient. According to the director, this journey through a dish consists of "starting with a small thing and unfolding it to tell a story". Behind every food item is the story of a migration, a colonial conquest, or different forms of exploitation of people or the environment.
