The Nebraska Democratic Party (NDP) will host a rally this afternoon with community allies to encourage Congressman Don Bacon to vote NO on the Republican Reconciliation Bill.
The following details are being provided to the press for coverage of the rally and interviews with attendees.
WHAT:
The Nebraska Democratic Party will host a community rally to encourage Congressman Don Bacon to vote NO on the Republican Reconciliation Bill that is poised to cause unprecedented harm to Nebraskans and residents in Nebraska’s Second Congressional District.
WHO:
Nebraska Democratic Party
The Omaha NAACP
The Black Church PAC
The Eastern Nebraska Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ
WHEN:
Wednesday, July 2, 2025 - 4:30 PM to 6 PM
WHERE:
72nd & Dodge Intersection - Omaha, NE
WHY:
The Republican Reconciliation Bill is the worst polling legislation in modern history, with the majority of Americans opposing it. The House is currently debating the final version of the bill that will throw millions of seniors, veterans, and working families off healthcare. Congressman Adrian Smith and Congressman Mike Flood will undoubtedly vote with House Republicans and Trump. With Congressman Don Bacon’s retirement announcement, he has an opportunity to do what’s right for Nebraskans and his constituents in the 2nd Congressional District. If passed, 25,000 constituents in the second district will lose their Medicaid coverage. Don Bacon has the power to protect his constituents. We encourage him to side with Nebraskans and not billionaires. Questions about this advisory should be sent to [email protected].
