Schools and Libraries
March 24, 2023
From: Winchester Public Library
The Library has been busy, and there are a few large projects that are coming along!
Open House
This Saturday, March 25th, the Library staff and the Friends of the Library are hosting an Open House! This event includes a bake sale, silent auction, scavenger hunt for children, and more! Come by the Library for as little or as long as you want, from 11am - 1pm!
Wireless Upgrade
This spring, we will be upgrading our wireless network, including new cabling and access points. Funds were appropriated by the Select Board from the Town’s remaining ARPA funds. Thank you to the Select Board members and the Town Manager for their support.
Teen Space & Shifting
Library staff are shifting books. Not only are we getting ready for a new teen space on the third floor, we are also organizing books so certain collections are in the same area! For example, fiction books will not be split between downstairs and upstairs anymore! We thank you for your patience until we have the signs replaced. Please ask a Info Services librarian for help if you cannot find something!
Staffing
The new calendar year has been busy! A few staff have recently left or are leaving us soon. We will miss our friends and thank Joe, Fred, and Haley, for their years of service! We look forward to meeting new team members!
Additionally, choosing titles to read is difficult when you have so many wonderful options around you every day! Right now, I am reading a book called Humble Pi: When Math Goes Wrong in the Real World, by Matt Parker. Being a former math major and because “Pi Day” was last week (March 14th or 3.14…), I am curious about how and why math has been ‘miscalculated’! If you are interested in finding out more, there are a number of paper and digital copies and formats available through the Minuteman catalog.
Happy Reading!
