Please join the Town of Bedford on Saturday, December 3, 2022, for the annual tree lighting festivities! The day will consist of several events: 

Tree Lighting, 5:00 p.m. Citizen of the Year Sarah Dorer will lead the countdown to light the trees on Bedford Common at 5:00 p.m. sharp. This will be followed by a special visitor from the North Pole arriving atop a fire engine with treats and wishes for a joyous holiday season. 

Winter Walkabout, 3:30-6:00 p.m. For its fifth year, and the first since 2019, The Winter Walkabout presents a flurry of activities to encourage everyone to stroll, shop, savor, and socialize to kick off the winter season. Bedford Recreation, Economic Development, and Healthy Bedford in collaboration with the Bedford Chamber of Commerce, invite you to walk around Bedford Center, enjoy the lights, and shop and dine local while celebrating the arrival of winter in Bedford. Participating establishments include: 

-Wearovers, 119 The Great Road, sweet treats, special discounts

-Brown & Brown PC, 110 The Great Road, snacks and warm drinks

-Bedford Historical Society, Old Town Hall, 16 South Road, gift shop items for sale, archives and vintage recipes on display, and free candy canes

-Suzanne & Company, 90 The Great Road, beer & wine garden, food truck

-Front steps of the First Parish Church, 75 The Great Road, hot chocolate

-Ken's NY Deli, 72 The Great Road, face painting

-Bedford Fire Station, 55 The Great Road, hot chocolate with marshmallows 

-Barrett Sotheby’s, 51 The Great Road, professional family photos w/Santa, warm drinks, Bedford Cupcakes, and chili from Red Heat Tavern  

-Bedford Free Public Library, 7 Mudge Way, Friends of the Library Holiday Book Sale (Saturday and Sunday 1:00-4:00 p.m.)

Holiday Artisans Fair, 3:00-6:00 p.m. For the first time, an artisans fair will be held in conjunction with the tree lighting and winter walkabout. Sponsored by the Bedford Cultural District and the Gallery Committee @ First Parish Church, the fair will take place inside the First Parish Church on Bedford Common. More than two dozen local artists, craftspeople, and an author will exhibit and sell original work.

Bundle up, put on your favorite walking shoes or boots, and join the festivities!
