From: Town Of Camp VerdeFriends Host Show by Award-Winning Artist, Sheri Morris
Friends of Camp Verde Library invites the community to the opening reception of the Sheri Morris art exhibit on Friday, February 17 from 4:00p – 6:00p at the library. Meet the artist, enjoy some refreshments, and bring your check book. Thanks to Sheri's extreme generosity in donating her artwork, each painting on exhibit will be for sale with all proceeds going to the Friends of Camp Verde Library!
About Sheri Morris: Sheri’s paintings, nearly all oil, are primarily inspired by the majestic beauty of the Verde Valley and other northern Arizona locations. Raised by parents who were lovers of art, music, and books Sheri's creativity was encourage from early childhood. And, growing up in an time when idleness was discouraged, Sheri learned to enjoy being busy and love learning. She started making her own clothes in fifth grade eventually learning the art of dying fabrics and delving into batik as an art form.
Sheri was a juried member of the Arizona Designer Craftsman Guild for many years and loved the competitions. After retirement, pastels grew to be her favorite medium, and she became a juried member of the Arizona Pastel Society. She moved from pastels to oils several years ago, going back to a favorite medium from her college days. The Verde Valley is now her greatest inspiration and the topic of most of her paintings. Sheri’s awe-inspiring paintings have won Best of Show at the Fountain Hills Art Show, Glendale Art Fair, Mohave Art Fair, Verde Valley Art Fair, and the Havasu Art Exhibition. One of her paintings of the Verde River was selected for inclusion in the Smithsonian Waterways Exhibit sponsored by Yavapai College.

Special Programs and Events
Hands-on S.T.R.E.A.M. Activities
The Library joins a dozen other Verde Valley organizations participating in the AZ State SciTech Festival 2023. Starting Thursday, February 2 at 4:00p, the Children’s Library will host 5 weeks of hands-on STEAM activities for children and families ages 6 and up. Events are scheduled on different days and times as follows:
-Thursday, February 2 at 4:00p at the Library, Flood Safety: Floods are the most common natural disaster in the US. Engage in a hands-on activity to learn about flood safety and how to be ready when facing an emergency.
-Friday, February 10 at 1:00p at the Verde Valley Archaeology Center, Ancient Culture of the Verde Valley: Learn about some of the human history of the Verde Valley through excavation of sites, analysis of artifacts, and other physical remains.
-Saturday, February 18 at 1:00p at the Library, Solar-Powered Car: Use hands-on skills to build your own miniature solar-powered car and your creativity to customize it. Learn about some the benefits of solar energy.
-Thursday, February 23 at 4:00p at the Library, Astronomy Basics 101: Learn to follow the moon in its different phases, learn facts about astronomy, and discover constellations visible in the February night sky.
-Thursday, March 2 at 4:00p at the Library, Art – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: practice sustainability while creating an art project to take home.

No-cost tax preparation and e-filing services for taxpayers of all ages by AARP Tax-Aide IRS-certified volunteers will be at the library on Tuesdays between 3:00p and 6:00p.

Toley Ranz, Pushes Back on Bullying
The Children's Library is teaming up with the Toley Ranz Foundation to bring the innovative Stop Bullying Program into the library’s safe space. Children in first through fifth grade and their families are invited to learn how to strengthen self-reliance and stand up to bullying. Learn More...
