Chickens in Dedham

The Board would like to remind residents that anyone keeping chickens in Dedham must receive a permit. A Domestic Animals Permit Application must be submitted to the Health Department for review. The application process includes the submission of chicken coop plans, coop set-back requirements, abutter notifications, and more.  Please be aware, roosters are not allowed in Dedham. Please contact the Health Department at 781-751-9220 to learn more.

New Mental Health Resources for Residents

At the beginning of the year, Massachusetts launched the Behavioral Health Help Line (BHHL). The BHHL connects individuals and families to a full range of treatment services for mental health and substance use offered in Massachusetts, including outpatient, urgent, and immediate crisis care. The BHHL is staffed by trained clinicians and certified peer specialists to support callers’ needs. The BHHL is free to all Massachusetts residents, even if you do not have insurance and it is available in more than 200 languages.

The BHHL is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by phone call and text at 833-773-2445 or online by visiting masshelpline.com.

Stay safe and be kind!

Respectfully submitted by the Board of Health,
Leanne Jasset, Chair
