December 22, 2022 - DEDHAM, MA - Dedham Public Schools and the Dedham School Committee are pleased to report that five candidates have been selected as part of the ongoing search for a new Superintendent of Schools in Dedham. Current Superintendent Michael Welch will retire at the end of 2022 and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Assessment, Dr. Ian Kelly will be acting as Interim Superintendent through June 2023. 

In early December, an appointed Screening Committee, made up of school parents, administrators, educators and community members, reviewed an impressive pool of candidates’ applications. They met and reviewed applications and subsequently selected candidates to meet with the Screening Committee for a preliminary interview. During the December 17, 2022 meeting, after thorough discussion and consideration, the Screening Committee voted to recommend five candidates for further consideration by the Dedham School Committee. 

The five candidates, listed in alphabetical order, are:
Dr. Marlene DiLeo, currently Superintendent of Ware Public Schools
Dr. Renee McCall, currently Assistant Superintendent, Newton Public Schools
Ms. Nan Murphy, currently Assistant Superintendent, Marblehead Public Schools
Dr. Armand Pires, currently Superintendent Medway Public Schools
Dr. June Saba-Maguire, currently Assistant Superintendent, Brockton Public Schools

In early January, the five finalists candidates will be visiting Dedham for in-person tours and meetings, including evening, in-person public interviews with School Committee members. Community members are invited to provide feedback on each candidate through online forms through January 16, 2023.
