Dedham Awarded Certificate for Financial Reporting

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the Town of Dedham the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the Fiscal Year 2021 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.

The impartial panel of judges with the GFOA recognizes the report to clearly communicate the Town's financial story through a "constructive spirit of full disclosure" and that the Town has made the report readily available to the public to read. This award is one of the highest forms of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and signifies great accomplishment by a government and its management.

"We are excited to receive this award again, most importantly, because it acknowledges our increasing efforts to ensure transparency and accountability in our financial reporting, " said Town Manager Leon Goodwin. "Our team of highly trained professionals in the Finance Department work diligently to manage all Town finances and to carefully document how tax dollars are collected and spent."

The Annual Comprehensive Financial Report is prepared each year using detailed financial statements accompanied by analyses and narratives, independent auditor's report, supplementary information, and schedules to present the Town's financial condition. (Read the FY2020 report).

"To receive this award again is a testament to the great work the Town has been doing to practice fiscal responsibility, to make sound decisions through long-term planning, and to provide a high level of service crucial to our residents and taxpayers, " said Finance Director John Arnett.
