Project Overview:

Construction of a combined public safety building commenced in December 2020 on the site of the former Town Hall at 26 Bryant Street. The new building will house the staff and equipment of Fire, Police, and Dispatch departments. The new combined Public Safety Building will replace two older Town buildings: Police Station at 600 High Street (built in 1962) and the Fire Station at 436 Washington Street (built in 1930). The new building is scheduled to open in the Winter of 2022.

What to expect December 12, 2022 (Monday) through December 16, 2022 (Friday):

The project site remains closed to the public.

Weekend Work:Contractors will be working onsite onSaturday, December 10, 2022,between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

HVAC contractors will install a radiant heat panel in Stairwell 2.

Sheet metal contractors will relocate the cabinet unit heater within the lobby vestibule and will perform remaining punch list repairs.

Painters will finish painting the Apparatus Bay walls, ceiling, and mechanical areas, and will paint the stairs.

Electricians will continue to pull wires within the apparatus bay and install fire alarms in the stairwells.

Masons will be onsite to continue to finish grouting around the cell block doors and will address remaining punch list items.

Waterproofing contractors will caulk the exterior door frames throughout the building.

Site contractors will continue backfilling areas within the project boundaries along the west, and will instill granite curbing.

Acoustic contractors will continue to finish installing the wood ceiling panels within the lobby at the public entrance.

Installer will continue the installation of the new overhead doors within the Apparatus Bay.

Subcontractor will finish installing the detention furniture within the onsite detention areas.

Landscapers will continue installing new stone pavers along the exterior of the west side of the building.

Expect periodic entrance and exit of large trucks at the project site entrance, located at the intersection of Washington Street and Bryant Street.Please expect minor traffic delays at this intersection.

No additional traffic impacts or pedestrian impacts are anticipated during this week.

Public Viewing Area:

If you want to stop by to check out the progress, stand by the picnic table outside the north entrance to Town Hall. This spot provides a great view into the project site and is outside of the project boundaries. Worth a visit!
