September 24, 2022

From: Town Of Dedham

Project Overview:

Construction of a combined public safety building commenced in December 2020 on the site of the former Town Hall at 26 Bryant Street. The new building will house the staff and equipment of Fire, Police, and Dispatch departments. The new combined Public Safety Building will replace two older Town buildings: Police Station at 600 High Street (built in 1962) and the Fire Station at 436 Washington Street (built in 1930). The new building is scheduled to open in the Fall of 2022.

A livestream video of the construction is available on the Project website! Tune in from anywhere to watch the continued progress on the Combined Public Safety Building. While there, check out the updated Before-and-After photos of the progress onsite.

What to expect September 26, 2022 (Monday) through September 30, 2022 (Friday):

The project site remains closed to the public.

Weekend work: Contractors and subcontractors will be on site performing site work, including installing the Apparatus Bay epoxy flooring.

Sheet Metal contractors will install finish grilles throughout the building.

The fire protection and sprinkler subcontractor will install changes in the locker room, and flush out the Fires Station water line with the Dedham Westwood Water District.

Plumbing will build out the domestic water in the water room.

Electrical contractors will install fire alarms, lighting, and electrical finishes in the basement. They will also install exterior lighting on all elevations.

Work will continue on the interior cold formed metal framing, dense glass taping and sanding in the basement and first floor. Wood doors will be installed on the second floor of the Fire Station.

Painters will paint the gypsum wallboard on the first floor.

Work will be done on grinding and parging walls in stairs #1 and #2.

The Site Contractor will install a water quality structure and remove asphalt from the South parking lot.

Lockers will be installed in the basement and second floor of the Fire Station.

The ACT ceiling installer will put in the grid for the wood ceiling in the main lobby and continue whiting out the ceilings on the second floor of the Fire Station.

Millwork will begin installations in the second floor Police conference room and install stone tops throughout the building.

N.E. Decks & Floors will install epoxy flooring on the West side of the Apparatus Bay.

Permanent Power was supplied to the building on July 28, 2022. The generator is due to arrive at the end of September.
