Government and Politics

From: Town of EastonGood afternoon,
It is hard to believe that it’s Thanksgiving already. We have so much to be thankful for; family and friends, and our beautiful town and wonderful community. It is a season where Easton shines particularly as the Christmas Tree Capitol of Connecticut which we are all proud of. People come from all over the area which is great for bringing business and recognition to our town. It also brings traffic so please be patient and careful and show all our neighbors from Easton and beyond our best side.
Last week I had the pleasure of attending the annual dinner of the Easton Exchange Club. The Exchange Club is a volunteer organization dedicated to serving charitable causes and this was its 75th anniversary. That is quite an accomplishment, but like all such volunteer organizations they rely on the generosity and commitment of individuals. It is both a great social and service organization, so if you are interested you can get more information by calling Victor S. George, President at 203-374-1077 or 203-726-4772.
One way to give thanks is by volunteering for the Easton Fire Department. Operational and Administrative opportunities are available for all backgrounds and skill sets. If you are interested, please visit www.evfc1.com or call 203-268-2833.
Fairfield County has experienced a number of break-ins recently and Easton has had several, all in the Easton Woods neighborhood. The Easton Police Department has stepped up patrols and is working with other local departments. This is extremely concerning and the department is, of course, committed to keeping our neighborhoods safe. From Chief Doyle, a couple of recommendations based on what they have seen. PLEASE report ANY suspicious activity to the Police Department, no matter how insignificant you may think it is. If you have a burglar alarm make a habit of arming it whenever you leave the house. Keep your valuables hidden and if you have a safe, make sure it is bolted down because otherwise it can just be carried out. We will continue to keep you posted on this situation.
The Senior Center is having a Holiday Boutique which will run through December 23, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Holiday Raffle tickets will also be sold at $2.00 each.
On Sunday, December 4th the Easton Public Library is sponsoring their annual craft fair and tree lighting ceremony from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. There will be kids’ activities, a holiday sing-along, cookies and hot chocolate and much more. It is a great beginning to the holiday season. Please come stop by. Also, volunteers are needed during the afternoon, please call the library at 203-261-0134 If you can help.
Have a good weekend and a Happy Thanksgiving!
