From: Town of WakefieldDo you plan to seek a local elected office in 2023? Nomination papers are now available at the office of the Town Clerk in Town Hall.
Town Clerk Betsy Sheeran notes that candidate packets, which include important dates and information, have been prepared for those seeking re-election or election. The positions that will be open in the 2023 Town Election include:
Town Council: Two (2) Three-Year Terms
Town Clerk: One (1) Three-Year Term
School Committee: Two (2) Three-Year Terms
Library Trustees: Three (3) Three-Year Terms
Planning Board: One (1) Five-Year Term
Board of Health: One (1) Three-Year Term
Board of Assessors: One (1) Three-Year Term
W.M.G.L.D. Commissioner: One (1) Three-Year Term
Constable: One (1) Three-Year Term
Candidates and treasurers must preserve all detailed accounts, vouchers, and receipts for six years from the relevant election, according to M.G.L., C. 55. The law applies to those elected, re-elected, and those not elected.
If a candidate does not receive or expend any money, does not receive any “in kind” contributions, or does not assume any liabilities during the reporting period, the candidate shall still be required to file a FORM CPF-M102, or sign the form CPF-M102-0 on or before the filing date.
Any candidates who need to file 2022 end-of-year finance reports should return them on or before Monday, January 23, 2023. The reports may be delivered to the Office of the Town Clerk at 1 Lafayette Street, dropped off in the Town Clerk’s mailbox in the Town Hall parking lot, mailed to the Town Clerk, or emailed to the Town Clerk at [email protected].
