The annual Triad Jewish Film Festival (TJFF) presents the best and brightest cinematic moments from Israeli and Jewish cinema and affords movie-goers the opportunity to see Jewish films that are not readily available in theaters.

She Wouldn't Take Off Her Boots

Our story shows one woman’s determination to sculpt the first Holocaust Memorial Monument in North Carolina commemorating the women and children of the Holocaust. We show her motivation, her drive, and the people that helped her dream become a reality. The film puts faces, names, and stories to what the monument represents. Survivors of the Holocaust do not live far away. They live here in Greensboro. They work with us. They are our neighbors. The film gives three of them an opportunity to tell their stories. One is the story of a boy who survived multiple concentration camps and the other is of two cousins hidden during the war by their brave and courageous mothers. The monument is named in honor of the cousins’ mothers. Join us as we start a movement to educate the next generation of the dangers when people are marked as “other.”

Within Brooklyn's ultra-orthodox Jewish community, a widower battles for custody of his son. A tender drama performed entirely in Yiddish, the film intimately explores the nature of faith and the price of parenthood.

A Jewish teenager is about to compete in the swimming nationals when a goy who works at a radio station invites her to a concert. The adventures and romance between these two will test their beliefs and family bond. While experiencing the worst economic and political crisis in the country, her father will do whatever it takes to keep her away from him and preserve his family pure. Confronting him, she will struggle to build her own destiny. The debut of Mexican filmmaker Santiago Salinas is Goy a coming of age, that tells a story of personal discovery. An internal struggle that can only be faced with courage... it is that or longing for freedom forever. A series of anecdotes in concerts and radio stations, with endearing characters, while a major political crisis, will face a universal reality, from a very Mexican point of view.

Join us after for a special Q&A with Jenny Kaiser and Victoria Milstein as they discuss Golda, She Wouldn’t Take Off Her Boots and share reflections from the Solidarity Mission to Israel.

Set during the tense 19 days of the Yom Kippur War in 1973, Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir is faced with the potential of Israel’s complete destruction. She must navigate overwhelming odds, a skeptical cabinet and a complex relationship with US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, with millions of lives in the balance. Her tough leadership and compassion would ultimately decide the fate of her nation and leave her with a controversial legacy around the world.

Moti Bernstein, a yeshiva student from a well-known and respected Ashkenazi family, reaches the age to begin dating to find his beshert (his soulmate). One of the best matchmakers in the Orthodox world sets up meetings between Moti and “the best of the best” among the ultra-Orthodox girls from Israel and abroad.

Barren

A childless young ultra-orthodox couple faces a crisis after a traumatic treatment for barrenness. When the difference between good and bad is unclear, the family must deal with unresolved secrets that raise fundamental questions about religion and faith.

Arranged

ARRANGED centers on the friendship between an Orthodox Jewish woman and a Muslim woman who meet as first-year teachers at a public school in Brooklyn. Over the course of the year they learn they share much in common - not least of which is that they are both going through the process of arranged marriages.
