Uptown Chalk the Block is Western PA’s First and Oldest Street Painting Festival set in quaint Uptown Somerset, PA.

It’s all about live art with 21 professional chalk artists, emerging and youth artist competitions, live music, art demonstrations, free kids activities, food and drinks, a 5k run/walk, and so much more!

5PM-9PM Chalk the Block Festival Headquarters

All Day: Story Stroll by Mary S. Biesecker Library: 230 Rosina Ave.
Start your visit to Uptown SoCo at the Mary S. Biesecker Public Library and stroll through the festival reading “Be Wild Little One” By Olivia Hope

10AM-6PM: Book Sale at Mary S. Biesecker Library
Start your visit to Uptown SoCo at the Mary S. Biesecker Public Library and find an amazine read!

1PM - 4PM: Laurel Highlands Model Railroad Club
Check out one of Somerset’s most classic clubs – an entire building full of model trains and miniature replicas of historic rail lines. This is one of the coolest stops in Somerset – a can’t miss! There is a small admission fee to help support the club – free 12 and under, 12 and up $5.

4PM: Mary S. Biesecker Library Christmas in July Celebration
The Friends of the Mary S. Biesecker Library will be hosting a Christmas in July celebration. Get into the holiday spirit with games, cookies, crafts, food trucks, and a special appearance by Santa, in conjunction with the beginning of this year’s Chalk the Block Festival!

6PM: SoCo Summer Parade By Laurel Arts!
The SoCo Summer Parade Steps off at 6PM and Rolls down Main Street! See Dancers, Twirlers, Firetrucks, Floats and all the joys of a classic summer parade.
Address: Watch the parade anywhere on Main St from the Diamond (101 W Main St.) to Franklin Avenue

7-8:30PM: Matt Otis And The Sound Concert On The Diamond
For the first time, experience a concert played right in the street on the Diamond in Uptown Somerset. The musical stylings of Matt Otis and The Sound will have you dancing – and with the streets closed – you can twirl right on the iconic, historic town center!

Enter the Free Youth Chalk Art Competition and Chalk Wild Somerset OR come and see the incredible talent in the different youth age groups.

7AM-2PM : Adult Chalk Competition
Adults enter the Adult Chalk Competition and are given spaces all throughout the community. It’s free to enter and we are always wowed by the incredible talent in this group and their gifted skills to all the viewers who enjoy their work.

9-1PM : SoCo Farmer's Market
Meet producers and makers at the SoCo Farmer’s Market! The market features local farmers and fresh goods as well as artisan wares. Score honey, locally-made (and grown) garlic seasonings, local eggs, Somerset County wine, and more.

10AM - 2PM : 1st Summit Bank Kids Zone
The Free Uptown Chalk the Block Kids Zone is made up of 11 incredible kid-focused nonprofis who have developed chalk focused activities specifically for this event! As always these activities are free of charge.

10AM - 4PM : Laurel Highlands Model Railroad Club
Check out Somerset’s Train Club – an entire building full of running model trains! There is a small admission fee to help support the club – free 12 and under, 12 and up $5.

10AM-2PM Somerset Kiwanis Club Basket Raffle
Support the Somerset Kiwanis Club and Enter to win Baskets in the Somerset Trust Company Parking Lot at 152 W MAin St.

11AM - Chicken BBQ Benefitting the Humane Society of Somerset County
Chicken BBQ Benefitting the Humane Society of Somerset County will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1801 from 11AM until sold out on Saturday July 27! All proceeds benefit the Humane Society.
