From: Historic Albany FoundationVolunteer to Teach DIY Workshops at the Historic Albany Foundation's Tool Library!
We are planning our next 6 months of workshops - do you have a skill you would like to share? We are basing our workshops on feedback from the survey form. All workshops are free to attend.
Why Should You Volunteer?
Are you a DIY enthusiast who loves sharing your skills with others? Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to the community? Look no further - join us at the Historic Albany Foundation's Tool Library as a DIY workshop instructor and make a lasting impact on the lives of fellow DIYers and our beloved heritage!
Why Volunteer to Teach DIY Workshops?
Share Your Expertise: By volunteering as a DIY workshop instructor, you get the chance to share your passion and expertise with like-minded individuals eager to learn. Your knowledge can empower others to take on exciting projects and foster a sense of accomplishment.
Build a Strong Community: Our DIY workshops create a sense of camaraderie among participants, creating a strong and supportive community. As an instructor, you'll be at the heart of this positive and encouraging environment, helping forge lasting connections.
Contribute to Historic Preservation: By teaching DIY skills, you actively contribute to preserving our historic architecture and cultural heritage. DIY projects often involve restoration and repair work, and your advice and tips can be invaluable.
Foster Creativity and Sustainability: Our workshops promote creativity, resourcefulness, and a sustainable mindset. Become a catalyst for promoting eco-friendly practices and reducing waste through upcycling and repurposing projects.
Personal Growth and Fulfillment: Being a workshop instructor not only benefits others but also enhances your personal growth. You'll refine your teaching abilities, gain leadership experience, and find fulfillment in positively impacting the lives of your students.
Plus - all workshop leaders receive a $100 stipend for their time ;)
How to Get Involved:
Reach out to Kim Parker and share your ideas for a workshop (or choose one of the suggestions above if they are in your skill set). Schedule a date in the next 6 months, and in the meantime come and visit some of the other workshops to see what we have to offer!
Did you Know We have a Tool Lending Library in Albany?
Did you know Historic Albany Foundation is home to the only Tool Lending Library in the Capital Region? We have over 600 home and garden tools, and put on free workshops to help make preservation accessible, build community, empower individuals, and encourage sustainability.
It costs just $20 for the year, and members can borrow 2 tools at a time (including larger kits). We have everything from pressure washers to shop vacs, power tools, free hardware, and everything in between. We carry out free workshops and have volunteer days in the community to help other organizations achieve their goals.
