MADISON, Wis. — So much for “putting on the red, white, and blue jerseys.” This weekend, Eric Hovde said that his political opponents are “such a curse to society.”

Hovde has insulted Wisconsinites of all stripes, saying people in nursing homes shouldn’t be allowed to vote, saying ‘females’ don’t pay attention to politics because they are too focused on Hollywoodsaying he understands Black culture because he’s been to Africa, and having a history of using anti-Semitic slurs.

  • Eric Hovde, the Republican Senate candidate in Wisconsin, said over the weekend that his political opponents are “such a curse to our society today.”
  • Hovde, who is running against Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D), made the comment during an interview on “The Schroeder Show,” a conservative show on News Talk WTAQ, which broadcasts in northeast Wisconsin.
  • “So is that defending democracy, when you have to do those kinds of games?” Hovde said Saturday. “So, yeah, I mean, they’re just, they’re such a curse to our society today.”
  • An email sent Monday morning to a Hovde campaign spokesperson was not immediately returned.
  • Andrew Mamo, a spokesman for the Baldwin campaign, said in a statement, “Hovde continues to run a dark, divisive campaign that Wisconsinites will reject next month.”
