From: Wave Hill Public Garden and Cultural CenterDecember at Wave Hill
Our gardens and grounds have always been an oasis in the Bronx. And now, all are invited to escape the crowds, noise and stress of the winter holidays and to celebrate here with family and friends, surrounded by the natural beauty of Wave Hill. We can’t wait to welcome you to Winter Haven!
In the Gardens
Nights lengthen and days shorten as the comforting winter season envelops the garden. Ever-present evergreens get their moment in the landscape. Many will receive an annual shaping prune, their branches repurposed for Winter Haven decorations throughout the garden. The Conservatory is sure to lure you inside to warm up. Container plants are moved indoors and some are displayed in the central Palm House—this colorful arrangement changes often based on plants in bloom and combinations.

Winter Haven
The season kicks off December 1 with our annual Artisan Market (FRI, SAT), featuring local vendors, and wreathmaking, ice carving demo, live jazz, festive photo-op, animal scavenger hunt, sunset cocktails and more. Winter Haven continues with special evening programs. Free Thursday evenings are for families—a Pajama Party, Family Art-Palooza and Winter Solstice Wishes. Salsa the evening away at Latin Social Night and enjoy a festive night out with Jazz, Mixology & Mistletoe. As a holiday thank you, Wave Hill Members receive 20% off regular ticket prices on these two evenings!
Music in Armor Hall
Principal clarinet of the New York Philharmonic, Anthony McGill (DEC 10) has a dynamic international solo and chamber music career. Tickets for any and all the concerts in the Roots & Branches series are available online.

Tap Root, an exhibition in Wave Hill House of recent fabric pieces and works on paper by the artist duo LoVid, is on view till December 17. The 2024 Winter Workspace program begins in early January.
