This newsletter contains information about happenings in the Children's Library, Young Adult (YA) Space and let's you know of upcoming Children, Family, Parent and Teen programs and events. This is a bi-weekly newsletter. If you want to see all of the programs and events happening for the month, please go to our Calendar where you can view all of the events at once and register online. You can also view the program listing for Children and Families Here or Teens and Parents Here.

If you have any questions, please contact Head of Children and Young Adult Services, Alessandra (Petrino) Casiello at [email protected] or 203-222-2651.

What's New?

  • If you didn't already know, the children's room and YA Space have a few new collections that you can check out:?
    • Family Movie Night Boxes
      • movie box with 4-6 movies on a particular theme that you can check out for a fun-filled week. (Microwavable popcorn will be available free when checking out movie boxes for a limited time).
    • Book-It Bags (book bags with multiple books on a particular theme, subject or genre):
    • SHELFpacks (backpacks that include multiple books, activities and suggested learning on a particular subject or theme)
    • Launchpads (Early-Learning tablets preloaded with books, activities and games)
    • Board Games! We have board games for everyone. Find games for families and children (under age 12) in the children's room and find games for teens and adults (ages 12+) near circulation.

A Few Reminders:

  • All patrons are expected to follow our Code of Conduct of acceptable behavior so as to provide a safe and welcoming environment to those of all ages.
  • We want to remind our parents that any child under the age of 12 must have a caregiver over the age of 18 inside the library with them when visiting the library. This is a state mandate and must be followed by all patrons.
  • Our Children's Room and YA Space have seating available to do school work and both areas have computers available for research and printing purposes. (Printing has a cost).
  • While we do allow eating in the cafe of the library and small snacking and closed drinks in other parts of the library, we ask that food and drink be kept away from any of our computer areas and children's play areas.
