Faith Action Message
As was shared before the Christmas holidays, steering committee members from the units of Faith Action have recommended that action be taken to seriously consider if/how the organization can continue.  A date and time has now been set to deal with this question.
“Treasuring the Past, Reimagining the Future” will meet on Saturday, February 18, from 10 AM to 1 PM at Calvary by the Sea Lutheran Church (5339 Kalaniana’ole Highway).  All are welcome to join us on this journey. If you want to attend, call Marian Heidel, and we will set up a carpool.
If you have ideas to share but are unable to attend the meeting, please contact

Info

The Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC)
for CCU was elected by the Congregation on June 5, 2022 to search for and identify a candidate to present to the Congregation for approval as CCU’s next settled pastor. Since being elected in June, the PNC has been working the Pastor Search and Call process through both of our affiliated denominations, the Presbyterian Church of the USA (“PCUSA”) and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ ) (“DOC”).  With that process of discernment concluded, the PNC is pleased to announce that the Reverend Kate Lynne Hogue has been selected as the candidate we will present to the Congregation for approval.

Pastor Kate is a Presbyterian pastor who attended a Disciples seminary—so she is very excited about our united identity.  Pastor Kate is passionate about hands-on mission work, social justice issues, inclusion and diversity, and music.  Kate is married to Sean, and their daughter Charlotte was born at the end of August 2022.  The plan is for Pastor Kate and her family to fly to Hawaii in March 2023 so Pastor Kate can offer the sermon and the Congregation can vote on her Terms of Call; the PNC has asked Council to schedule a Special Meeting of the Congregation for March 12, 2023.  If approved, we expect that Pastor Kate’s Call will be effective in mid-April 2023.  The PNC, Council, and Pastor Brittani will work closely together to ensure a smooth transition.

We will provide more information about Pastor Kate after the Council meeting at the end of this month, but wanted to get you this update as soon as we could.  Please remember that the PNC is not allowed to answer questions about anyone who may or may not have been a candidate—so please don’t ask.  We would, however, be thrilled to talk to you about Pastor Kate.
