MADISON, Wis. — In response to Derrick Van Orden voting to shut down the government, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Deputy Communications Director Haley McCoy released the following statement:

“Derrick Van Orden’s vote to shut down the government is a vote to force our men and women in uniform to work without pay and an absolute betrayal of the hardworking Wisconsinites across the 3rd District. DC politicians like Derrick Van Orden are the reason we still don’t have a Farm Bill, and why Republicans in Congress continue to struggle with the basics of keeping the lights on and the doors open. Western Wisconsin deserves a representative who will work for them—unlike Derrick Van Orden, who is too caught up in political games to do what’s right for our state.”
