The Many Lives of the Alamo Long Barrack

9/7/2023 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Take a journey through the almost-300-year history of the Alamo Long Barrack, believed to be one of the oldest structures in Texas. From its beginning as a convento housing missionaries, followed by years as a military outpost and hospital, to becoming a commercial center as a booming city grew around it, and ultimately as an historic relic in need of modern-era conservation, the Long Barrack has quite a story to tell.

Engage with living historians, archaeologists, and interpretative guides, and discover how this structure’s history and those who lived here contributed to and reflect the greater story of San Antonio.

Admission is free but advanced registration is strongly encouraged. Entry to the program is every 20 minutes and the total experience lasts approximately one hour.
